just an ordinary boy,
quietly unassuming,
ignored by all the rest
unless they thought to
mock him and make fun.
he dreamed of growing up,
of becoming a somebody,
of marrying a girl,
of raising his own kids
and working hard.
he prayed everyday for
the woman he would marry.
he asked God to bless her
and keep her safe so that
they would meet in due time.
at the age of twenty-one the
dream was shattered by
reality. the boy awoke to
realize he would never marry,
so he stopped praying for
someone who doesn't exist.
