the splintered stone cried,
having fallen into the crevasse.
Yes, it did. It
fell from the heights of mockery,
as a lonely child cast adrift in the schoolyard--
sore. The splintered
stone wept, as tumbling, but not polished,
it wandered aimlessly below.
No one saw, or
so it thought. The daffodil
smiled from afar, singing songs
of comfort on
a windless breeze. Hazy apparitions
fell upon its reluctant repose.
Come away my
little stone. Come away and be free
like a child returned to his home.
Mommy! Daddy!
