the late watches attend the sojourner,
waiting, hoping, sitting quietly alone.
will there be room for slumber?
one can only lay down and hope.
open wide the heart to joy,
sing softly the ancient psalm.
a new day approaches in haste,
a fresh dawn for frightened hearts.
comfort in solace and sweet fellowship,
the nurture of Christ in community.
